I want to tell you about a great man I knew,
a man of passion, of love and integrity too,
he could bring a tear to your eye just by whistling a tune,
God took away the music, the whistling too soon
He was a family man, that was easy to see
he lived for his kids and his beloved Elsie
together as one, morning, night and noon,
god took away a husband, a father too soon
a loyalty to his band, the famous Grass Creek
the brothers travelled and played week after week
they spread the bluegrass feeling with a jam and a tune
God took away a brother, a musician too soon
The gentle beat of a bass, tall strong and true
a lot like Doug's character to me and to you
a man loved by all, in that there is no doubt
God you took him too soon, we all want to shout
But alas it is time to say goodbye and let go
there are angels in heaven waiting to hear his music you know
so if you look past the stars and beyond the bright moon
you'll see this great man that I knew, that God took too soon

Hate
Hate is a strong word, but a true one. Mom told me not to say hate of those cold words. They have a knack to kill the heart and soul. I don't care. I would and will take that chance. I walk to the jail, take a right, and glare at him. He glares back. He's in a cage, his new home. I hope his food is spit on and, his clothes stay stained. My gaze goes up to his hate filled eyes. "I know," I said with a face of stone, "I hate you, too."

The Boogey Man
"Why not?" the little girl wailed. "Because I said so" the tired mother groaned. Everyone in walmart cast their eyes on the mother. "Fine!" the little girl croaked. On the way out of the store, the little girl smiled. In her back pocket lied her stollen prize. A night light, to keep the monsters away.

The Brave Ones
"Shallow your breathing, my son" one of the elders told me. "The white man can't find us now." We had been on the move now for days, with only rags on our backs. We fled for the under ground railroad one of the elders speaks of. Winking at us in the face of the mountain, FREEDOM!

Betrayal is like a Deadbeat Father
Betrayal is like a deadbeat father.
Betrayal creeps out of bed in the middle of the night.
Betrayal places his hand on his baby girl's door and winces;
The thought of opening it is too much to bear.
Betrayal softly steps into the kitchen, thoughtfully stroaking Toby the dog's side.
With a deep breath betrayal grips the suitcase of abandonment
and strides out the door:
never looking back for the fear of guilt to pierce his heart of coal.

Narcissism
Narcissism, you are something else.
Walking around like you are all that.
Ha, you're not.
Get your head out of the clouds and come down to a place I like to call reality.
Let me define reality for you.
I know knowledge isn't you're thing.
Reality is a place where rejects like you are scoffed upon and hated.
Sound familiar?
I thought so.
Look around, you have no one,
So stop acting like a movie star.
The only premier you'll get is "Us against you."
Wake up from your dream,
Welcome to my world.
Walking around like you are all that.
Ha, you're not.
